Why There Is No Universal 40HQ Quantity
Two carts with the same seat count can have different roofs, tires, batteries, bumpers, rear seats and accessories. Operating dimensions may change after roofs, windshields, wheels or seats are protected or removed. A mixed-model order creates another layout.
The usable result also depends on rack design, safe clearances, weight distribution, container limits, blocking and bracing, loading equipment and the order in which the destination team can unload. Therefore, a quantity quoted without a model-specific drawing and packing data is only an assumption.

1. Freeze the Shipment Specification
Start with an approved specification for every cart. Record model, quantity, seating layout, battery, charger, tires, roof, windshield, lights, mirrors, bumpers, rear seat or cargo kit, accessories, branding and spare parts. Mark whether each item ships installed, removed and labelled, or packed separately.
Use a revision number. The commercial invoice, packing list, loading plan and inspection evidence should refer to the same revision. The OEM customization checklist helps prevent configuration drift before packing begins.
2. Build a Model-Specific Packing Data Sheet
Ask the supplier to complete the following for each configuration—not only for a representative cart.

Do not infer packed size by subtracting a roof height from a catalogue dimension. Ask for the actual planned state and verify it during pre-shipment inspection.
3. Review the Loading and Securing Plan
A usable plan identifies every cart or package and shows orientation, clearances, load distribution, removed components, contact protection, blocking, bracing, securing points, loading order and unloading order. It should also state the container type and the basis for its internal dimensions and limits.
The joint IMO/ILO/UNECE CTU Code is a non-mandatory global code of practice for packing cargo transport units by sea and land. It addresses parties across the chain, including packing and unpacking. Use it as a safety framework while also applying binding regulations, carrier instructions and competent professional advice for the actual shipment.
Questions for the plan review
- Can any cart or loose part move, tip, rub or contact the doors during the route?
- Are securing points suitable for the loads and used without damaging vehicle components?
- Are weight and concentrated loads compatible with the selected container and handling equipment?
- Can the first destination team remove restraints and unload units in the documented sequence?
- Are keys, chargers, hardware, manuals and spare parts labelled to the correct units?
Battery transport is a separate approval gate
For sea transport, the current IMDG Code and carrier requirements must be applied to the exact vehicle and battery. The IMO states that the 2024 Edition incorporating Amendment 42-24 became mandatory on 1 January 2026. Do not copy requirements from a previous shipment or from air-freight guidance. Ask the responsible forwarder and carrier to confirm the classification, documentation, battery condition, protection, declarations and acceptance for this route in writing.
4. Collect Evidence Before the Container Is Sealed
Agree on the evidence list before loading day. A practical file contains:
- container number, type, visible condition and empty interior;
- unit references and packing condition before entry;
- each loading stage, including racks or support structures;
- contact protection, blocking, bracing and securing points;
- labelled removed parts, chargers, hardware and spare parts;
- final load near the doors with clearance visible;
- door closure and seal number;
- packing list and loading-plan revision used.
Photos prove only what they clearly show. They do not by themselves prove engineering adequacy, regulatory compliance or arrival condition. Connect them to a written pre-shipment quality-control record and named responsibility.
5. Plan Arrival and Unloading Before Departure
Ask the destination warehouse or service team to review the plan. Confirm site access, dock or ground unloading, ramp, forklift or lifting needs, equipment ratings, labor, safe work area, restraint-removal sequence, battery precautions, assembly tasks and empty-container return timing.
Prepare an arrival record: seal and container condition, moisture or movement, damage, package count, unit identity, missing parts and exceptions.
